Spitting Image Cobra

SPITTING IMAGE SPORTSCARS was born out of the desire to create a "Retro" with an unmistakable resemblance to the Brute-i-Full AC Cobra.

That is where the likeness stops. Not only does this creation adopt the stance of a modern sports car, i.e.sleek, low slung, radiused wheel arches filled with rim & rubber, etc., but it also accommodates driver & passenger in such a manner that they sit "IN" rather than "ON" the car, as is the case with most "Replica's". With this and loads of legroom & footspace, even a man of 6' 4"x 240lbs sits low in the car. (see picture below).

However, the big plus is the technology in the chassis & suspension. The chassis is of a  triangulated, tubular spaceframe backbone designed for extreme torsional rigidity, yet lightweight construction. Attached to the chassis by means of "Aroura" Spherical Rod End Bearings, are fully fabricated "A" arms, Front: Upper & Lower, Rear: Upper & "N" arms for Rear Lower. These in turn hook up to fabricated Uprights, resulting in ultra low roll center's, due to the iInclination of the "A" &  "N" Arms.

Using spherical rod-end bearings in the suspension, mounted in the manner which they are, allows for the making of infinite adjustments to castor, camber & tow at all four corners without the need to  remove a wheel or any other component whatsoever.

Fabricating the front Uprights also enables one to achieve the correct "Ackerman Angle". This together with a host of other features like Anti Squat, Anti Dive, Zero Bump Steer, no Tire Scrub (Full Bump - Full Droop) etc., should add up to a real "Road Hugger".

Watch this space!
